Why do some horse and rider partnerships get stuck?

06/21/2026
Over the years I have worked with many talented riders riding talented horses.

They have experience. They take lessons. They work hard. They genuinely want to improve.

Yet sometimes progress slows down or stops altogether.

The question is: why?

In my experience, the answer is often not a lack of ability in either horse or rider.

More often, it is a way of thinking, a training habit, an assumption, or a fixed idea that has quietly become a limitation.

When progress stalls, the solution is not always more effort or more exercises.

Sometimes the biggest breakthrough comes from seeing the situation differently.

This idea has led me to develop a new concept that I am currently exploring: helping horse-and-rider partnerships identify what may be limiting their progress and uncovering a clearer path forward.

More on this soon.
